Daisy C. VasquezProject ManagerHello,my name is Daisy Vasquez I am a senior at Augustus F. Hawkins High School I’m part of the Critical Design and Gaming School.South Central Los Angeles is where I was born and raised.I am project manager for “Girls Build LA ”. This organization influences young female students in my community to strive toward becoming future engineers. For me, Girls Build LA has been a stepping stone toward my career goals.I want to help inspire some of my fellow female peers to take a chance in the field of engineering and to not be intimidated by men. Women are a minority in STEM field majors and may feel like they do not belong in that major which can ultimately lead them to feel discouraged. I truly love engineering, but I do not feel out of place or discouraged about choosing this major. I’ve encountered discrimination for my gender and my ethnicity, but I will not shy away from the things I want to achieve. I embrace being a women of color. I inspire to be a chemical engineer once I finish High school.I am the youngest from my seven siblings and the 4th to graduate high school and move on to a four year university. On my spare time I like to hang out with friends,go on road trips, and exercise! Fitness is a passion of mine in specific weightlifting,it’s a very important part of my life!I’ve gained physical and mental strength, confidence in myself.I strongly believe that strength has no gender!
